Before Dermal Filler Treatments

  • Avoid blood-thinning/anti-inflammatory medications, if possible, for 1 week before the procedures. Supplements and medications such as Vitamin E, ginseng, aspirin, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Fish Oil/Omega 3 supplements, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen and other NSAIDS have a blood-thinning effect and can increase the chance of swelling and bruising after injections.

  • Do not drink coffee and alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before the procedure to decrease the risk of bruising.

  • Discontinue Retin-A 2 days prior to and 2 days following the treatment.

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before a special event that you may be attending, such as a vacation or a wedding. Swelling and bruising may be apparent in that time period.

  • Reschedule your appointment if you have a rash, a blemish, or a cold sore in the area.

  • Have plenty of water and a good meal before your appointment to minimize the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

  • If you have a history of cold sores, please let us know.

After Dermal Filler Treatments

  • Avoid massage or significant of the injection area, unless instructed by the provider.

  • Avoid any treatments in the injection area for at least 2 weeks.

  • Avoid heat or extensive sun for 72 hours.

  • Avoid consuming alcohol.

  • Avoid intensive exercise for 24 hours.

  • If you have swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour.

  • Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
